Along the way I’ve learned something really interesting. The best kept secrets of any country’s cuisine aren’t to be found in expensive restaurants or cookbooks. They’re tucked away on the spice racks and in the pantries of ordinary kitchens in ordinary homes. And in years of tradition passed on from generation to generation.
That got me to thinking. What if I could share those secrets with friends back here in New Zealand? That was the start of Jean’s Kitchen.
Our philosophy can be summed up in two words. Authentic quality. We bring you the same ingredients used by Asian and European domestic gods and goddesses in their own homes – the same ingredients they buy every day from their local shops and markets.
But we’re selective with it. We search out the best suppliers, and import only their products for our customers. In many cases we re-brand it with our own name – putting our money where our mouth is, if you like.
